By now you must have heard that the Olympic dream has come true for both our men’s and women’s South African hockey teams with both national sides having qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics!
We couldn’t be more excited for our coaches who play for these teams. But before they embark on their journey, towards the international spotlight, they will be joining us in providing Johannesburg’s young players with invaluable hockey training on 30 November and 1 December.
We believe that team sports like hockey have valuable life lessons to teach young minds and encourage all schoolgirls and coaches to join us at our two-day Johannesburg Academy – regardless of whether your dream is to become a national player or just improve your skills for next year.
Taking place at St Mary’s School in Johannesburg, we offer an experience like no other! Sport is not only about skill, it’s about brain power, co-ordination, awareness of self and others, strategy, and execution. Take these skills out of the context of sport, and you have a solid foundation for navigating life.
Specific to the game, we offer a detailed insight into aspects like nutrition, recovery, the importance of each player, action planning (warm-ups, cool downs, and strategy) and team awareness.
The Academy is split into a Fundamental Players’ Course (ages 8-11), Intermediate Players’ Course (12-15), Advanced Players’ Course (ages 16-18), and a Coaches’ Course (all levels).
Start date: 30 November at 8:00am
End date: 1 December at 5:00pm
Includes: Player’s t-shirt and daily lunch.
